Jönköpings Kommun: Case Study

Research

The more good practice we can share with each other across all of the Nordic countries, the better.

“In Sweden, we have had 6 ph.d.s total in gifted education, and what is exciting, in the next couple of years, we will have 10 more. So this is a time for gifted education to celebrate in the Nordic region. Gifted education has been a topic that has not been popular, shall we say, but now is its time and its renaissance, and you are part of it.”

Where do we start?

In Jönköping, it started with the management team and an action plan

“When I started with this work, I asked: ‘Do we have an action plan?’ ‘Of course, we have an action plan.’ But I asked the teachers, and they didn’t know about it, and they couldn’t find it because it’s not that easy to find the plans in our system. So, the first thing was to update it, and we did it together because the university was an important partner for us, and we put it in a place where everyone can find it.”
